The SEVENTH Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration is fast becoming a reality! If you enjoy good food, wine, like-minded people and amazing scenery then this event is for you.
In what has been described by world-renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson as "Surely the most relaxed pinotfest ever", the Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration gathers Wine & Food enthusiasts from around the world for two days of fine cuisine, fun and exceptional wine.
The Celebration takes place in Queenstown, against the backdrop of the mountains and lakes of the Southern Alps. The aim of the two day programme of events is to educate, invoke debate, and above all, to highlight Pinot Noir regionally, domestically and internationally. It is called a Celebration as winemakers and consumers meet in a relaxed, non-competitive setting.
Be there to experience some of the world's leading wine commentators, all of Central Otago's top winemakers, winery guests from around the world, a Cuisine programme prepared by New Zealand's leading Chefs, plus, a healthy dose of irreverence and wit.
Celebrating Pinot Noir
The mountains, lakes and valleys of New Zealand's most picturesque wine region beckons all Pinot Noir addicts to the seventh Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration. Central Otago's winemakers invite you to help them celebrate all things Pinot Noir this coming January 2009.
Since its inception in 2000, the Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration has quickly established itself as one of New Zealand's premier wine events, and a not to be missed date on the international Pinot Noir calendar. The Celebration brings together the wine world's leading writers and commentators, together with wine and food enthusiasts to experience Central Otago's best wine, cuisine and sights.
The Celebration will be held over two full days on the 30th and 31st January 2009. The programme is a balanced mix of informal and formal events in a relaxed, non-competitive and casual atmosphere – all hallmarks of the Central Otago experience. Pinot Noir is the highlight, with an emphasis on tasting and learning about this wonderful variety from its oldest vineyards to some of the newest. Add to this a cuisine programme to match the acclaimed wines, the stunning landscape, the characters, and the legendary after dark frivolity …

Dates Confirmed for Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration 2009
The seventh Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration will be held on the 30th and 31st January 2009 in Queenstown, New Zealand.
Confirmed delegates for the 2009 Celebration include world-renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson MW, who has previously described the event as "surely the most relaxed pinotfest ever.”
With the mountains, lakes and valleys of the world's most southerly wine region as its picturesque backdrop, the Pinot Celebration is a not to be missed date on the international Pinot Calendar. It brings together the world's leading writers and commentators, together with two hundred food and wine enthusiasts from around the world.
The aim of the two day programme of events is to educate, invoke debate, and above all, to highlight Pinot Noir regionally, domestically and internationally. It is called a Celebration as winemakers and consumers meet in a relaxed, non-competitive setting.
Past media and VIP attendees have included internationally acclaimed wine author, judge and founder of Coldstream Hills winery in Victoria, James Halliday; world renowned wine authority and Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson; premier Burgundy critic, Allen Meadows; and Cameron Douglas MS, the only person in the Southern Hemisphere to have earned a Master Sommelier distinction to date.
Central Otago is a rapidly growing wine region, located at latitude 45º South, with an international reputation for Pinot Noir. In 2007, the variety accounted for 85% of total vineyard plantings.
The region's vineyards are located east of the resort town of Queenstown and include the small towns of Wanaka, Cromwell and Alexandra.
