Wooing Tree is a family owned vineyard, situated in the heart of Central Otago next to the town of Cromwell and opposite the “Big Fruit Sculpture”. The location gives a perfect mix of various sub-regional climates and optimum heat degree-days.

The 26 ha single vineyard site has 16 ha of Pinot Noir planted with clones, 5, 6, 115, 667, 777. The remainder will be planted in whites and Pinot Noir. The Wooing Tree, a local landmark, sits prominently in the middle of the vineyard. The tree has long been a popular place for locals to woo their partners and if it could talk would have many a story to tell

This 2008 Pinot Noir is the latest release named after the critically endangered Cromwell Chafer Beetle, which is found in only one place in the world, Cromwell. Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine, with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and Black Doris plums, a rich and silky smooth palate with fine grainy tannins to match the fruit.
