Quartz Reef
Partner and winemaker Rudi Bauer describes his label as reflecting the old and the new - history in the region and in the 400 years of winemaking by French Chauvet family, whose confidence that the region could produce excellent sparkling wine was the foundation for his venture, the new in the wave of the man-made Lake Dunstan, which the vineyard overlooks. The South Pacific style of design also reflects the New World, something very special to Austrian-born Rudi.
QUARTZ REEF
Methode Traditionnelle Non-Vintage $28.95
Chauvet is the result of a "fruitful" partnership between the Champagne House MARC CHAUVET in France and BENDIGO ESTATE, New Zealand. The CHAUVET vines are situated in Rilly la Montagne, 12 kilometres from Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region. It is here, since 1529, that the art of winemaking has been steeped in tradition. Winemakers have passed on this inherited tradition and knowledge, from Dom Perignon, to sons and daughters alike. This tradition and knowledge is now extending to the New World in New Zealand.
A selected blend of pinot noir and chardonnay, sourced from Bendigo and Gibbston in Central Otago. Under the watchful eye of Clotilde Chauvet, we are aiming for a distinctive Central Otago sparkling wine. Made in the traditional way, to achieve elegance and finesse.
QUARTZ REEF

QUARTZ REEF Pinot Noir 2007 $41.95
It is now well established that Central Otago is producing outstanding pinot noirs, with Quartz Reef being no exception. Still, there is no doubt in Rudi's mind that to produce great pinot noir will take time. We are looking forward to the exciting journey to learn more about pinot noir, the expression of the vines and the development in the bottle.
