Evan and Kay Moore established Aravin Wines in 2009 in Hillview Road, Alexandra, where they planted pinot noir and pinot gris grapes.

The block enjoys panoramic views over the Alexandra basin and surrounding mountains.

Vineyard manager is Lisa Whipp and the wine is made by David Grant at William Hill.

Pinot Noir 2008 NZ$33.95

2008 Aravin has a lovely deep colour, with a ripe blackberry fruit bouquet and hinds of spice and cassis. Its mouth-filling , black cherry flavours are supported by moderate tannins and culminate in a long, fruit-filled finish.
